SKETCH TO FINISH NOTES: MIDAS AURULIEN and ERSKIN WELLS CHARACTER DESIGNS FOR THE EARTH REALM CHAPTERS OF THE FORETOLD STORY BOOK 1: PART 1
MIDAS AURULIEN: Before I do any work of any kind on my computer, it starts with paper and pencil. There is something organic and natural captured when you do things the traditional old school way. I am an artist who studied the old masters way of art before learning how to do it on a computer and merge it with technology. And before I acquired a stylus to draw on the computer, I would draw with a mouse. My Graphic Design teacher in high school was truly the first to introduce technology to my art. She’s an amazing teacher and friend. I was blessed to meet, learn, and work aside all kinds of masters of the crafts and top talents. They added to my life brought out the best in me, teaching me. My Mom who encouraged and nurtured my gifts. Most importantly above all is God, the Master of all Artist. Without him teaching me from the beginning and being there each step of the way, I would have never have made it this far.
ERSKIN WELLS: There are those times when what starts in my head manifests into a different finish. It’s always much better than how I imagined. This is one of the antagonist of my book series @theforetoldstory Erskin Wells. The sketch is most certainly much different than it’s finish. My Niece told me she imagined Erskin to be more handsome and less old and creepy looking like the sketch. But I argued the essence of Erksin’s character is in his eyes. His spirit is captured perfectly. I thought I would stick with my original sketch but I took my Niece’s feedback instead. I aged Erskin backwards, removed some wrinkles, gave him more hair, and made him a little more attractive as you see in the finish. When I showed my Niece the finish, she approved. I am proud and this is most certainly the Erskin Wells of my story. He truly is perfectly evil. That Boss from hell. Anyways this little post here serves as another metaphor. Our dreams never manifest exactly how we want them or when we want them. They always are better than what we dream, bigger than what we imagine, and happens in its own timing much like this piece of art I created. Follow your dreams and don’t give up.
